The Muse is delighted to have partnered with Whītau School, to provide an exemplary music programme, to all students. This began in 2023 with the entire junior school. (Five classes, new entrants, year one and two) and will continue with these students as they progress through the school, while extending to each new junior class as children enroll. This means that any student who enrolls at Whītau school will benefit from a comprehensive music education, throughout their primary school years. (The school takes children up to class six).
In 2023 the classes are being taught by Nikki Berry, under the mentorship of Loren Easterbrook, using the Kodály approach. Teachers at the school are being supported by The Muse to attend courses to develop their singing skill and confidence and musicianship, and Nikki and Loren provide resources that classroom teachers can share with their students between classes.
We intend to demonstrate the power of having skilled specialist music teachers providing music education to every child.
